Crash Assistant
by KostromDan
After Minecraft crashes, Crash Assistant opens a window that reads and analyzes the affected logs, so the likely cause is shown at once.
What it does
When the game closes unexpectedly, the window lists the logs it finds and reads them as soon as it opens. Logs can be dragged from the list or moved to another folder with drag and drop. The analysis covers known crash signatures, such as a GPU driver DLL, low physical memory, a jemalloc or JVM fault, or a system event entry showing the operating system closed a frozen game.
Each supported log is uploaded to mclo.gs and checked by its logs analyzer. Where the analyzer message is hard to follow, the window adds a longer explanation with a fix guide, including the erroring block or entity when one is named. The author estimates that most issues are common and solvable, which lowers the load on modpack support. Any analysis can be turned off in the config.
Client-side only, it does nothing on a dedicated server and has no effect on gameplay. The custom license is not open source, though the source code and issue tracker are public. Files cover 51 release versions, 1.6.4 – 26.3, and snapshot builds are published. Crash Assistant is required by one other mod, BielGG's Spells Addon.
Key features
Immediate log analysis
The window reads and checks the affected logs as soon as it opens, without any manual step by the player.
Known crash signatures
Matches cover GPU driver DLLs such as atio6axx.dll, glfw.dll and ig7icd64.dll, plus memory and JVM faults.
Drag and drop support
Files can be moved from the window to any folder, and all logs can be dragged out of the available files list.
Analyzer explanations
Unclear analyzer messages are replaced by a longer note with a how-to-fix guide where possible.

Individual analyses can be blacklisted in the config file if a player does not want them.
