Nomad's Rest

by ivangeevo

Nomad's Rest reworks sleeping, so a bed or bedroll lets players skip the night and set a spawn point wherever they camp.

What it does

Sleeping in this mod speeds up time instead of skipping straight to morning. Nearby chunks and entities keep ticking while a player sleeps, and the sleep screen turns pitch black rather than dimmed, which discourages players from exploiting time skips. Beds and bedrolls both need a supporting block placed underneath them, and if that block is broken the bed or bedroll breaks automatically.

Bedrolls are a portable option for travelers who set up temporary camps. Each one can serve as a spawn point, and a fall while sleeping on one does not cancel fall damage. The mod requires Fabric API and is published for Fabric and NeoForge, with files for 1.21.1 only. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod. It is released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license and is not open source, though its source code and issue tracker are public.

Key features

  1. Overhauled sleeping

Sleeping advances the clock gradually rather than cutting to morning, changing how nights pass in a world.

  2. Supported beds and bedrolls

Beds and bedrolls need a block underneath, and breaking that block removes the bed or bedroll.

  3. Portable spawn points

Bedrolls can be carried and placed as spawn points, which suits players on the move.

  4. Pitch black sleep screen

The sleep screen fades to black instead of dimming, which makes skipping time through sleep harder to exploit.

Who it’s for: Players who travel, build temporary camps, or want sleeping to feel different from vanilla. Server owners who want a stricter sleep screen will also find the mod relevant.
