No Netherite Upgrades

by moonwirer

No Netherite Upgrades removes the Netherite Upgrade Template from the crafting of Netherite tools and armor, so the Netherite ingot goes straight into each recipe.

FabricForgeServer-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.20 – 1.21.1

What it does

Vanilla Minecraft requires a Netherite Upgrade Template in the Smithing Table to turn a diamond tool or armor piece into its Netherite version. This mod changes those recipes so the Smithing Template is no longer needed, and the ingot is combined with the diamond item directly. Netherite Boots follow the same pattern and use a Netherite Ingot with a diamond version of the tool or armor.

The change covers the swords, pickaxes, axes, shovels, hoes, helmets, chestplates and leggings, and is applied through recipe edits rather than new items. The mod is open source under the MIT License, is published for Fabric and Forge across 9 release versions, 1.20 – 1.21.1, and is a server-side only mod. Players join without installing it, and only the server needs it to change the recipes.

Key features

  1. Netherite swords

The Netherite sword recipe is changed so it no longer requires a Smithing Template.

  2. Netherite pickaxes and axes

Pickaxe and axe upgrades are crafted from the ingot and the diamond tool without the template.

  3. Netherite shovels and hoes

Shovel and hoe recipes drop the template step and use the same ingot-and-diamond combination.

  4. Netherite armor

Helmet, chestplate, leggings and boot recipes are adjusted, so the Netherite ingot combines with the diamond piece directly.
