Nie's Improved Recipes

by Nieadni

Nie's Improved Recipes replaces a set of vanilla crafting, smelting and unpacking recipes with versions that follow block and item ratios more closely, and it ships as a datapack.

What it does

The mod rebalances recipes for the block types that yield a material in several forms, so their outputs follow more consistent ratios. Logs and wood are made to produce equal amounts, chains gain a recipe with a better ratio, and several stone types can now be used in crafting items and blocks such as furnaces. Recipes for saddles, horse armour, name tags, tridents, enchanted golden apples and several dyes are adjusted too. Packed ice and other blocks can be unpacked, smelting covers raw ore blocks as well as smelted ore, and wooden storage can be built from barrels and trapped chests instead of hoppers.

Beyond those changes the mod adds recipes for chainmail armour, horse armour, nautilus armour, a logical elytra recipe, coral revitalising and coral fans, sherd copying, an updated trim smithing template, cakes with berries, mushroom blocks, leaf litter, dead bush, packed snow layers, cobblestone and gravel, cauldron crafting, and dirt to mud. The mod is a data pack placed in each world's datapacks folder, so players who join the world need nothing extra. It is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and as a data pack, across 42 release versions, 1.13 – 26.3.

Key features

  1. Block ratio fixes

Several block types are rebalanced so that crafting yields a more consistent amount of material.

  2. Wood and log parity

Logs and wood are made to produce equal quantities, so one wood type does not cost more than another.

  3. Expanded stone recipes

Several stone types can be used in crafting items and blocks, including furnaces.

  4. Extra vanilla recipes

Recipes are added for chainmail, horse and nautilus armour, a logical elytra, coral fans and cakes with berries.

What the author says

Note of warning; I 100% intended this as a datapack and just used Modrinths inner mod maker to convert the datapack into a mod so if a bug exists in the mod version but not in the datapack version, I cannot fix it and I apologise. Datapacks however are cool. You just need to put them into.minecraft/saves/ /datapacks…
