Museum Curator

by immortius

Museum Curator is a collecting aid for Minecraft that tracks which survival-obtainable items a player has gathered and marks them off a categorised checklist.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.18.2 – 1.21.3

What it does

Museum Curator opens a categorised list of survival-obtainable items. Each entry is checked off once the player has collected it, which keeps a record of progress across the whole game. The checklist item comes from a simple recipe that pairs paper with a wooden slab, and it can be opened at any time to view the list.

The checklist is global and shared across players, so every player on a server sees the same record. Items held in a block, a storage container, an armor stand, an item frame or a flower pot count as collected when their contents are checked. Potions and enchanted books appear in the list in their general forms only. Installation covers the server and each player's game. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge for 1.18.2 – 1.21.3, with Mod Menu as an optional dependency, and the code is open source under the MIT License.

Key features

  1. Categorised collection list

Survival-obtainable items are sorted into categories, and each one is marked off once it has been collected.

  2. Checklist crafting and use

Paper and a wooden slab make the checklist item, which opens the list when used.

  3. Crouch-click contents check

Crouch-clicking an item frame adds the frame's content and the frame itself to the checklist.

  4. Container and block checks

Activating the checklist while crouched on a block checks off the block, along with the contents of containers, armor stands, item frames and flower pots.

Checklist is a Fabric-only client-side mod for 1.16.5 – 26.2, under All rights reserved, so it adds nothing to the server. Boss Checklist is open source under the MIT License and runs on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge for 1.20 – 26.3, with the client required and the server optional. Boss Checklist - Friends & Foes Compat and Boss Checklist - Mini Bosses Compat are Fabric-only add-ons for 1.20.1 – 1.21.1, where either side can run them alone or together, and neither side needs them.

Questions

Which loaders does Museum Curator support?

Museum Curator has files for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge. The latest Fabric and NeoForge files are 1.4.3 for 1.21.3, and the latest Forge file is 1.4.2 for 1.20.1.

Does the server need Museum Curator installed?

Yes. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too.

Is the checklist shared between players?

Yes. The checklist state is global and shared across players, so the record is the same for everyone on a server.

Does Mod Menu need to be installed?

No. Mod Menu is an optional dependency, so the mod runs without it.
