More Heads
by nwrenger
Mob heads drop from mobs killed with a hoe, and players drop their own heads when another player kills them, all added by More Heads.
What it does
More Heads changes which mobs leave a head behind. A mob drops its head only when it is killed with a hoe, which keeps heads from appearing on every kill and reduces farm pollution. Wither Skeletons and the Ender Dragon are excluded, so vanilla progression stays intact. A killer's name is shown in the head's tooltip.
The server must run the mod, while players may add it for the tooltip, so only the server needs it to work. Fabric API is required on Fabric, and the mod is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, so it is open source. Files target 1.21 – 26.3 across Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and snapshot builds are published too. The mod is also available as a data pack for server platforms.
Key features
Hoe-based head drops
Mobs leave their heads only when a hoe delivers the killing blow, which keeps drop rates intentional.
Player heads on death
A player who is killed by another player drops their own head, which the killer can keep.
Protected progression
Wither Skeletons and the Ender Dragon do not drop heads, so those milestones are unchanged.
Vanilla-style items
Heads are added as items that look and behave like the vanilla ones, so they fit existing builds.

Use cases
Survival servers
Server owners can offer heads as a reward without letting farms flood the economy.
Decorative builds
Players collect heads from specific mobs to display in trophy rooms and museum-style builds.
Who it’s for: Server owners who want mob heads that depend on how a mob is killed, and players who want to see who killed a mob in the head's tooltip.
How it compares
Players Drop Heads is server-side friendly with a custom license, not open source, and covers 1.19 – 26.3 on the same four loaders. Mob Heads Collection uses the MIT License, not open source, for 1.21.6 – 26.1.2. More Heads is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later and needs only the server to run it, while clients can stay without it.
