Moderately Enough Effect Descriptions (MEED)

The mod covers more than 600 status effects from 100 or more mods. Each effect's description and color can be viewed in the recipe viewer, and items, blocks, mobs and fluids that apply or cause an effect are listed under its description. Support is added for new mods over time, and mods listed on Modrinth that are not yet supported are included in later updates.

MEED also includes a command, meed missingdescriptions, that lists mod-specific effect IDs without a description, which helps when testing descriptions or building modpacks. Its custom recipe condition loads a recipe only when a mod falls within a given version range, which is useful for breaking changes between mod versions. The Brazilian Expansion and EMIffect are optional, and Just Enough Effect Descriptions (JEED) is named as the related companion mod for the JEI and REI side.

Files are published for Forge and NeoForge across 21 release versions, 1.18.2 – 1.21.11, and the mod is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.0. The source code and issue tracker are public. The environment is client and server: both the server and every player need the mod, and the server side supports the effect-providing blocks and items.
