Mobs Equipment

by lullaby

Mobs Equipment gives hostile mobs armor and weapons that match the gear a player has reached, so enemies grow harder as the player advances.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltServer required, client optionalGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen source1.21.5 – 26.3

What it does

Mobs gain equipment that scales with the progression of the nearest player. Mobs do not start with armor or advanced weapons; enemies carrying stronger materials appear only once a player begins obtaining them, and their gear follows similar tiers. Enchantments such as Sharpness, Protection, Fire Aspect and Thorns are applied at random to mobs that have access to higher-tier materials, matched to a suitable level.

Enchantment levels stay inside the usual vanilla ceilings and are distributed evenly, so fights feel natural rather than overwhelming. In multiplayer worlds, mob equipment scales based on the nearest player's progression, keeping combat fair and consistent for everyone. The mod is server required, with the client optional, and is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt on 26.3, along with a data pack. Mobs Equipment is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, and public links exist for its source code.

Key features

  1. Progression-based mob gear

Mob armor and weapons are tied to the progression of the nearest player, rising in tier as the player advances.

  2. Random vanilla enchantments

Mobs with higher-tier gear receive randomly applied vanilla enchantments, such as Sharpness, Protection, Fire Aspect and Thorns.

  3. Balanced enchantment levels

Enchantment levels remain within normal vanilla limits, so encounters stay challenging without becoming overwhelming.

  4. Multiplayer scaling

In multiplayer worlds, equipment scales with each mob's nearest player, so combat remains fair for everyone on the server.

What the author says

This mod makes mob progression directly tied to the player’s own advancement. If you have no gear, mobs won’t start with armor or advanced weapons either. Only once you begin obtaining stronger materials and equipment will enemies gradually start appearing with similar tiers of gear. Equipment and enchantments scale…
