What it does

MiniHUD is a client-side utility mod that offers info lines to choose from, in the style of the F3 debug screen. Its overlay renderers mark light levels, slime chunks, spawn chunks and region file boundaries, and its shape renderers draw circles and spheres. The main rendering toggle is bound to H by default, and holding H while pressing C opens the in-game config menu.

The mod is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only. It depends on MaLiLib and Ornithe Standard Libraries, and it uses malilib for its config system, config menus and hotkey handling. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, LiteLoader, Ornithe and Rift across 58 release versions, 1.8 – 26.3, with snapshot builds also published. MiniHUD does nothing on a server, so it should not be installed there.

Key features

  1. Mini F3 info lines

Selectable info lines display debug-style data in a compact HUD panel while the game runs.

  2. Overlay renderers

Overlays mark light levels, slime chunks, spawn chunks and region file boundaries directly in the world.

  3. Shape renderers

Circle and sphere shapes can be drawn around the player, with a sphere that is currently slightly crooked on one side.

  4. Structure bounding boxes

Bounding boxes for structures appear in single player and on servers that send the real structure data to the client.

  5. Adjustable overlay height

The top y-position of an overlay starts at the player's position and can be raised or lowered with the mouse wheel while the toggle hotkey is held.

Use cases

Finding slime chunks

Players can switch on the slime chunk overlay to see which chunks are slime chunks. The rendering does not show the height range where slimes spawn.

Checking light and spawn areas

The light level and world spawn chunk overlays help players plan builds and mob farms in single player.

Who it’s for: Players who want extra on-screen debug information in single player or on multiplayer servers, and players who use overlays for building or exploring.

Questions

Does MiniHUD need to be installed on the server?

No. MiniHUD is client-side only and does nothing on a server. The server side is handled by a separate companion mod that is not part of this catalog entry.

Which libraries does MiniHUD require?

MaLiLib and Ornithe Standard Libraries are required. MiniHUD uses malilib for its config system, menus and hotkeys.

Why does the slime chunk overlay not show spawn heights?

The overlay only marks which chunks are slime chunks. It does not show the height range where slimes spawn.
