What it does

Minesweeper is a total conversion for Fabric. It swaps the Minecraft game for a Java Minesweeper game, and the Mojang code is not used. The mod also keeps the ability to load other Minesweeper mods built with Fabric Loader and Mixin, so it can be run alongside them. Its author describes it as the first total conversion of its kind.

The board starts with most of its squares covered. A known number of bombs is hidden among the covered squares. Left-clicking a tile reveals it, and a bomb location ends the game. Each revealed square shows how many bombs sit next to it, and an empty square reveals the neighboring squares as well, so the player works out the rest from those numbers.

The mod is released under the MIT License and is open source. Its source code, issue tracker and wiki are public. It runs on the client and the server, and is published for Fabric only, in version 1.0.1 for 1.20.4. That file was released on 2024-03-31, the same day the mod was first published, and it was released as an April Fools Day build.
