Players awaken a forgotten portal in an Ancient City with sound, and Mielon's The Sift then opens a dimension of siftslate, Ichor and living sculk.
What it does
The portal is activated by a melody. Note Blocks placed on Sonorous Deepslate play eight Sift notes, and once a player plays the right order, the deepslate repeats the tune, the beams light up and the portal starts to open nearby. The physical arrangement of the blocks does not matter; only the order of the notes does.
The dimension has ten biomes, its own terrain generation, an animated sky and weather that does not follow the Overworld. Its features include Soul Canyons, Ichor Lakes, standing stone pillars, cliff arches, sculk growths and ruined portals, and its main stone is siftslate. The dimension's coordinates line up with the Overworld one for one, so a position in The Sift maps directly onto the same spot above. The mod is an interpretation of a dimension seen in Minecraft Dungeons II rather than an exact copy.
The mod needs Fabric API and Geckolib, and LambDynamicLights - Dynamic Lights is optional. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. Files are released for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, with builds for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1 and game versions 1.20.1 – 26.3. The code is under the MIT License and is not open source.

Ichor is a restorative fluid found throughout the dimension, and temporary openings connect The Sift to the Overworld.
Sniffer and Sifter mobs
Dark Sniffers pull distant targets with Sonic Sniff, and Sifters hunt in packs of up to five and drop Raw Sifter Meat.

Deeper Dark is open source under the Apache License 2.0 and covers Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt for 1.19 – 26.2, with a server-required, client-optional setup. Arda's Sculks is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 only and targets Forge and NeoForge for 1.20.1 – 1.21.1, with both sides needing it. Strange World is closed, licensed as All rights reserved, and covers Forge and NeoForge for the same 1.20.1 – 1.21.1 range.
