Midnight Thoughts
by Iliiasik
After a night's sleep, Midnight Thoughts shows the player a rest summary, facts or quotes, and a Rested buff tied to the room around the bed.
What it does
Sleeping in a bed with Midnight Thoughts installed starts a rest period. Once the player wakes, the mod checks the blocks and furniture around the bed and sets a comfort level from them: decorative items and plants raise it, while other blocks lower it. The resulting comfort level decides how strong the Rested state is when the player wakes, which can reach five levels of increasing effect strength and duration.
The Rested state runs through three phases that weaken step by step, with the first phase the strongest. Its buffs cover movement speed, strength, block mining speed and health, and a gradual health regeneration. Players who sleep with friends also see results for everyone in the session, including a most active player, personal bests and mini achievements. Playing with friends, the MVP always gets the strongest buff, and that buff runs longer than the level 5 buff a regular player can reach, no matter what the surroundings are like.
Display options cover the sleep screen, a moon overlay that always shows the current phase out of eight, and four design themes: Vanilla, Classic, Tech and Magic. The server sets a default theme in the config, and each player can pick their own. Random slides of facts and quotes come from a local database in 13 languages. Some languages can instead fetch slides from the Useless Facts API, and the config handles that setting. The mod is modpack-friendly, and the wiki describes how to add custom facts.
