MicroOptimizations

by Microcontrollers

Players on Minecraft 1.8.9 who want a lighter client can add MicroOptimizations, a Forge optimization mod released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 only.

What it does

MicroOptimizations targets small performance costs in the 1.8.9 client, and its page presents it as a set of micro-level changes rather than a single large rework. Because it changes nothing on the server side, a multiplayer server does not need it, and players can add or remove it on their own without affecting others on the same server.

Key features

  1. Client-side tuning

Changes are applied on the client, where the game spends time on rendering and logic that the author tuned for 1.8.9.

  2. Micro-level changes

Small, targeted adjustments replace broad rewrites, so each change touches only a narrow part of the client's work.

  3. Public source code

The source is published for anyone to read, modify and redistribute under the terms of the license.

Questions

Does MicroOptimizations need to be installed on the server?

What the author says

FeatherClient has made some of their optimizations public at FeatherOpt. I ported the optimizations that do not already exist in other Forge 1.8.9 optimization mods here to work on regular Forge. These optimizations are mostly cache and block pos pooling improvements. For further optimizations, I recommend using…
