Velox Caelo
by nea89o
Velox Caelo caches some calculations inside OptiFine on Minecraft 1.8.9, and it is client-side only.
What it does
The mod stores results of certain custom texture lookups so OptiFine does not repeat them each time. Installing it requires both OptiFine and Forge, since the mod has no function without OptiFine present. The gain is largest for players who use texture packs with many custom textures. Velox Caelo is published for Forge only, for 1.8.9, with 1.1.0 as the latest file from 2024-07-01, and it is not open source.
Key features
Cached texture lookups
Certain custom texture calculations inside OptiFine are stored and reused instead of being recomputed.
Texture pack gains
The reduction in repeated work grows with the number of custom textures a texture pack supplies.
Client-only operation
Only the player's client runs the caching, so servers need no installation to host players who use it.
