MCC Island Tooltips
by derNiklaas
MCC Island Tooltips gives items on the MCC Island server custom rarity borders in their tooltips, applied automatically while a player plays there.
What it does
Items shown on MCC Island get a fancy tooltip border that matches their rarity. The mod detects the rarity by reading glyph-based markers, an approach inspired by Pe3ep's Trident mod, so no player action is needed once it is installed.
The mod runs on Fabric and needs Fabric API, which has to be placed in the mods folder next to it. It is a client-side mod, so only the player who installs it needs it, and servers run without it. Files are published for Fabric across four game versions, 1.21.11 – 26.3, and the latest file is 1.2.1 for 26.3. The code is open source under the MIT License, and both the source code and the issue tracker are public.
Players who play on MCC Island and want rarity to be readable at a glance use the mod for the server's item tooltips. Nothing is added to the game itself: it only changes how existing tooltips look while connected to that server.
Key features
Automatic rarity borders
Tooltip borders are drawn in the colour matching each item's rarity, applied without any command or setting.
Glyph-based detection
Rarity is recognised from glyph markers in the tooltip text, using the approach of the Trident mod by Pe3ep.
Client-only tooltip changes
Only the visual tooltip is altered on the player's side, so the server does not need any change.

Use cases
Reading rarity on MCC Island
Items in the server's lobby and minigames show their rarity through the border, so players can compare loot without reading each name.
Who it’s for: Players of the MCC Island server who run the Fabric loader and want rarity shown on item tooltips. Servers and players on other servers do not need it.
How it compares
MCC Icon is an MIT-licensed open source client mod for Fabric and Quilt, built for 1.20.1 – 1.20.2 and not for the recent versions covered here. Glint is closed source, client-side only, and built for 26.1.2 alone. RarityCore For Fabric is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later and is client and server, with a 1.20.1 build, so it needs installing on the server as well.
