Mahou Isekai is a Forge magic mod for 1.20.1 that reworks spellcasting around a dedicated Grimoire, a hotbar of spells and a set of spell effects.
What it does
Mahou Isekai replaces the standard scroll mechanics with a fluid magic system built around a dedicated Grimoire. A player begins in a reincarnated world, takes a path toward the Archmage role and works through an Awakening ritual that sets the core destiny and the starting magic deck. Taking damage in survival mode is part of the process, and pressing M while looking straight down at the ground begins the Awakening.
Installation covers the server and each player's game. It is published for Forge only, for 1.20.1, and the latest file is 0.4-alpha in the alpha channel. The code is not open source; the mod is released under All rights reserved. Mahou Tsukai is a companion add-on that expands the spellcasting system, and Mahou Tsukai Patches is a separate compatibility package for another build line.
Key features
Magic hotbar
Up to 10 equipped spells cycle through the hotbar, and the Z, X and C keys switch between them during a fight.
In-game configuration
A configuration menu opened with O lets players adjust the HUD layout, drop chances and the Awakening titles.
Practice and mastery
Crafted physical scrolls can be cast to practise a spell, and a spell that succeeds often enough is burned into the Grimoire permanently.
Death memory
Spell mastery and maximum mana capacity gained by the player remain with them after death.
Domain expansion and projectiles
The Absolute Duel domain expansion fills the area with a pitch-black void, reworked projectiles carry dense cores and charging rings, and the Awakening ritual shows a volumetric energy pillar with orbiting rods.
