Experience Book

by lullaby

Experience Book lets a player store experience points in a book and restore them later, on servers that install it.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltServer required, client optionalGNU Affero General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen source1.21.4 – 26.3

What it does

Holding an Experience Book and right-clicking saves experience points into the book. Shift and right-clicking then restores them to the player. The mod is aimed at server owners who want a simple way to move experience between players or keep it for later, a task the author describes as slow and costly to build by hand. Only the server has to run it, so players join without installing anything. It is open source under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 or later and is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, with builds for 1.21.4 – 26.3.

Key features

  1. Save experience to a book

Right-clicking while holding an Experience Book stores the player's experience points in the item.

  2. Restore experience from a book

Shift and right-clicking restores the stored experience points to the player.

  3. Simple setup

The stored value lives in the book item itself, so no command or separate storage block is needed.

How it compares

Full comparison

Experience Storage is server required and client optional, released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and published for 1.19 – 26.3. Dyed Books is a data pack for 1.21.5 – 26.3 under the MIT License. Book of Experience covers 1.17 – 1.20.4 under the MIT License, so it does not reach the newer versions Experience Book supports.

Questions

Does Experience Book need to be installed on the client?

No. It works on a server alone, and players can join without it, so the client side is optional.
