lumaLight
by fdderng
With lumaLight, the client renders colorful lighting, cartoon-style bloom and biome-aware atmosphere over the existing world without a shader pack.
What it does
LumaLight classifies blocks by their properties, rendered textures and Fabric tags, so modded content is recognized through base classes rather than through fixed block or biome identifiers. Colored lighting gives luminous blocks their own glow, warm sunlight and cool moonlight shift across the day and night, and fog, sky, clouds, sunsets and weather take on biome-specific colors.
The mod is client-side only and works on vanilla servers, so players install it alone. It requires Fabric API and is published for Fabric and Forge, with files for 1.20.1 – 26.3 and the newest Fabric build targeting 26.3. Snapshot files are not part of the release list here. The code is released under the MIT License, and lumaLight is not open source in the sense of publishing its full project history.
Key features
Colored lighting and bloom
Luminous blocks receive colored light, and selective bloom gives a cartoon-style glow to chosen surfaces.
Outlines and highlights
Terrain, entities, held items and the first-person hands get outlines, while water rims, leaves and projectile trails are highlighted.
Biome-aware atmosphere
Fog, sky, clouds, haze and weather colors change by biome, with warm sunlight in the day and cool moonlight at night.
Visible ore outlines
Ores on the visible surface are outlined so they can be found through walls.
