LockSlot
by b1nt1n
LockSlot lets players mark hotbar and main inventory slots so that the items in them cannot be dropped by accident.
What it does
Each of the 9 hotbar slots and 27 main inventory slots can be locked on its own. Three protection modes control what a lock blocks: dropping only, dropping with Shift-click transfers blocked too, or blocking all interactions with the slot. Locks stay attached to their slot, so an item moved out of a locked slot still cannot be dropped with Q while it sits in the new slot.
Protected items can also be kept as a separate list of item types tied to particular slots. Protection then follows the item type wherever it appears in the inventory. Items are matched by item ID, and adding one means typing a short name such as netherite sword and picking from the suggestion list, which also covers optional namespaces for vanilla items. When a drop is deliberate, Ctrl + Shift + Q sends the protected item out anyway.
Released for Fabric, LockSlot runs only on the client across 1.21.4 and 1.21.11, and its newest build, 1.2.3, targets 1.21.11. It is released under the MIT License and is not open source. Cloth Config API and Mod Menu are required, and the server installation requirement is mentioned by the author, since behaviour depends on the protection mode and settings selected.
Key features
Per-slot locks
Individual hotbar and main inventory slots can be locked, protecting important items from accidental drops.
Three protection modes
Dropping only, dropping with Shift-click transfers, or blocking all slot interactions can each be chosen.
Item type protection
A separate list protects item types wherever they appear, matched by item ID rather than by slot.
Short name search
Typing a partial name such as netherite sword shows matching suggestions to add to the protected list.
Intentional drops
Ctrl + Shift + Q drops a protected item on purpose, so locks guard against slips without blocking deliberate action.
