Chest Tracker (NeoForge port)

by b1nt1n

Chest Tracker is a client-side NeoForge storage mod that remembers which containers hold which items and lets players search them in-game.

NeoForgeClient-side onlyGNU General Public License v3.0 or later1.21.1 – 1.21.11

What it does

Chest Tracker records the contents of chests, barrels, shulker boxes and other containers that a player opens, and keeps that record on the client. Later, a searchable storage browser lists the items a player has stored and where they are, so a search finds a chest even if it is far from the player. Matching containers in the world can be highlighted, and custom container names are shown as the player set them.

The saved data is kept in separate memory banks, so one set of records does not mix with another. Search works in single-player, in multiplayer and in Realms-style environments, because the mod runs without a server install. It is an unofficial port for NeoForge, released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, and is not open source. Builds cover 1.21.1 – 1.21.11, and the latest file is 2.6.8+1.21.1-neoforge for 1.21.1, published 2026-07-25.

Key features

  1. Container contents memory

Items seen inside chests, barrels and shulker boxes are stored locally, so the record persists after the containers are closed.

  2. Searchable storage browser

An in-game browser lists saved storage and filters it by item, which makes a search quicker than opening containers one by one.

  3. World highlighting

Containers that hold a matching item can be outlined in the world, pointing the player to the right place.

  4. Separate memory banks

Saved records are split into memory banks, keeping different storage setups apart.

  5. Custom container names

Names given to containers are displayed in the tracker, so labelled storage is easier to recognise.

Use cases

Who it’s for: Players who store many items across scattered containers and want a record of them on their own client, in single-player or on a server that does not run the mod.

Questions

Does Chest Tracker need to be installed on the server?

No. It is installed on the player's side alone, so servers need nothing.
