Locator Colors
by BrandonItaly
Locator Colors makes the colors chosen for player waypoints appear across the game, so the locator bar, chat, player list and name tags all show the same color.
What it does
The mod applies a player's waypoint color to the places where other players are named or shown. Chat tabs, the chat player list and floating name tags pick up the color that the waypoint has been assigned, which keeps a player recognizable in every view. A separate option replaces the dots in the player list with player heads, each surrounded by a border in the waypoint color.
Locator Colors runs on the client only, so only the client needs it and a server can be left unmodified. It requires Fabric API and is released under the MIT License as open source. Files are published for Fabric, NeoForge and Quilt, with the latest builds targeting 26.3, and Mod Menu is optional for opening the settings screen.
Each of the features can be turned off separately from the config screen, so a player can keep the colored name tags while leaving the chat tabs unchanged. The code and issue tracker are public.
Key features
Colored chat tab menu
Chat tabs take on the waypoint color of the players they list, so conversations are simple to tell apart.
Colored player names
Names shown in chat and the player list take the color of each player's waypoint.
Colored name tags
A nameplate floats above each player and is drawn in the matching waypoint color.
Player head markers
The player list can show player heads with a waypoint-colored border instead of plain dots.
Individual toggles
Each feature can be switched off on its own through the config screen without affecting the others.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Players who already use waypoints and want the same colors in chat, the player list and name tags. Single-player and multiplayer clients can both run it alone.
How it compares
Custom Locator Color is a Fabric-only, client-side mod for 1.21.6 – 26.2, open source under the MIT License, so it does not cover NeoForge or Quilt. Locator Display is also client-side and open source, but it is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only and targets Fabric for 1.21.6 – 26.3. Waypoint Block differs more: it is server required with client optional and is released under All rights reserved, so it works on a different side of the connection.
