Linear Armor
Linear Armor changes the armor crafting order so each tier has to be built from the one before it, from leather through chainmail, iron, gold and diamond to netherite.
What it does
Vanilla lets a player go from leather straight to iron and then rush to diamond without ever crafting chainmail, and the mod closes those gaps. Chainmail is given a proper place in the sequence, and iron still carries the middle of the run. After iron, a player moves to gold before the diamond recipe becomes available, so the strongest tier has to be reached gradually.
The crafting recipes are adjusted so each armor piece needs an ingredient from the previous tier. Netherite is still upgraded from diamond as normal. The server must run the rules, while players can join without installing it on their side. It is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across seven release versions, 1.21.9 – 26.2, and a data pack variant is also available. The code is under the MIT License and is not open source.
Key features
Ordered armor tiers
Leather, chainmail, iron, gold and diamond armor each depend on the tier before, so no tier is skipped.
Adjusted crafting recipes
Each armor piece uses an ingredient from the previous tier, which makes the progression follow the sequence.
Gated diamond armor
Diamond armor cannot be crafted until a player has built up through the earlier tiers.
Netherite upgrades kept
Netherite is still made by upgrading diamond armor as it is in vanilla.
Multiplayer pacing
On shared servers, the sequence stops one player from reaching the top tier long before the others.
