Legacy Dynamic FPS

by Polyfrost

Legacy Dynamic FPS lowers the frame rate of Minecraft 1.8.9 while the game window is not active, so an idle client uses less power and resources.

What it does

Legacy Dynamic FPS is a Minecraft 1.8.9 port for the Ornithe loader, based on the Dynamic FPS mod for Fabric. It is a fork of that work and is client-side only, so only the player's client needs it. It requires Ornithe Standard Libraries, and OneConfig is optional for a simpler configuration screen. The mod is open source under the MIT License, and its source code is public. Files are published for 1.8.9 only.

Key features

  1. Frame rate when idle

The mod detects whether the game window is focused, hovered over or unfocused, and caps the frame rate to match.

  2. Adjustable frame rates

Players can set the frame rate used while the window is active and while it is in the background.

  3. Compatible settings file

The config file is backwards compatible with the original Dynamic FPS mod, so existing settings carry over.

Questions

Does Legacy Dynamic FPS need OneConfig?

No. OneConfig is optional. It provides an easier configuration screen, while the mod still works with its config file alone.

What the author says

Reduce resource usage while Minecraft is in the background, idle, or on battery. Dynamic FPS will detect whether the Minecraft window is currently active, being hovered over, unfocused, or invisible. For each of these states you're able to adjust the frame rate and volume.
