Ornithe Standard Libraries

by The Ornithe Project

Ornithe Standard Libraries is a set of library modules for Ornithe, providing shared APIs that other mods build on.

OrnitheClient and serverApache License 2.0Open sourcea1.0.4 – 1.14.4

What it does

Ornithe Standard Libraries groups several modules under one name. The Core API supplies common utilities such as an events system and registries that the other modules use. Blocks, Items, Config, Entrypoints, Lifecycle Events, Localization, Networking and Resource Loader APIs each cover one area, so a mod can depend on only the pieces it needs. Each module can be added as a separate dependency.

The Ornithe loader is the only loader listed, and the libraries cover game versions a1.0.4 – 1.14.4, with 120 release versions in total. The Modrinth page lists snapshot builds as published, and the latest Ornithe file is 0.22.2 for 1.14.4, dated 2026-10-12, on the beta channel. The license is the Apache License 2.0, and the source code is open source. Clients and servers both run the library, so it has to be present on each side.

Key features

  1. Shared core utilities

The Core API offers common helpers, including an events system and registries, used by the other modules.

  2. Custom blocks and items

The Blocks API and Items API provide events and utilities for creating custom blocks and items.

  3. Configuration framework

The Config API gives mods a framework for building and storing their configuration files.

  4. Networking between client and server

The Networking API provides a framework for communication between the client and the server.

  5. Resource and text handling

The Resource Loader API lets mods load their own resources, and the Localization API loads translation files.

  6. Lifecycle and entrypoints

The Lifecycle Events API tracks the lifecycle of the client and server, and the Entrypoints API lets mods register entrypoints that run before the game initializes.

Use cases

Mod developers

Mod authors who build on Ornithe can add only the modules they need as dependencies, instead of bundling the code themselves.

Players using dependent mods

Players who run mods that require these libraries need the matching modules installed on both the client and the server.

Who it’s for: Mod developers building for the Ornithe loader, and players who run mods that list these libraries as a dependency.
