Lazy Tools

by LAirHisson

Lazy Tools adds a set of utility tools to NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1, including a chainsaw, a Bed Launcher and a Diamond Sonar, plus a balloon-style flight item and a torch-placing golem.

NeoForgeClient and serverMIT License1.21.1

What it does

The chainsaw is the first tool in the set. Right-clicking a log starts an animation after a few seconds, and the whole tree is cut down in one go, in the manner of the Lumberjack mechanic in UHC games. Clearing forests goes quickly with it. The Air Balloon fills the gap before Elytra, letting players cross long distances; it needs anvils to fly, and it must be checked, because a balloon with no anvils left floats away. A Nether balloon turns into an obsidian variant that resists fire.

Other items cover farming and exploration. An End Bush grows Ender Pearls like a crop, and it only takes root when planted on Warped Netherrack. A Clock Pearl is crafted from a clock and an Ender Pearl, and throwing it behaves like a standard pearl, except the thrower is returned to the spot they launched from after five seconds. The Bed Launcher fires beds and is useful for mining Netherite and defeating the Ender Dragon. The Diamond Sonar shows how far the nearest diamond ore is and how many blocks lie between diamonds, as an alternative to x-ray viewing; using it damages the item.

The mod is for NeoForge only, with one file published for 1.21.1, and it runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. It is released under the MIT License and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Chainsaw

Cuts an entire tree after a short animation started by right-clicking a log.

  2. Air Balloon flight

Lets players cross long distances before obtaining Elytra, with anvils as the fuel for flight.

  3. Clock Pearl

Teleports the player back to the original position after five seconds, with a cooldown tied to the return time.

  4. Torch Golem

A revived golem that places torches in dark areas using coal, with a chest of torches as a fuel gauge.

Questions

Does Lazy Tools need to be installed on the server?

Yes. Installation covers the server and each player's game.

Which loader and version does Lazy Tools use?

Lazy Tools is published for NeoForge only, and its single listed version is 1.21.1.

Why does the Air Balloon need anvils?

Flight requires anvils, and a balloon that runs out of them floats away, so players must keep it supplied.

What the author says

It was created as part of my “100 Days but I Can Code Mods” YouTube video, where I showcase both the development process and the features. The Chainsaw was the first tool I implemented. It works…
