Larion World Generation
by Badgerson
Larion World Generation reshapes terrain, caves and biome layout on server worlds, aiming at a dreamlike epic fantasy look with long rivers, vertical temperature bands and endless oceans.
What it does
The mod overhauls how the overworld is generated. It changes the shape of the terrain, the cave generation and the placement of biomes, but leaves biome contents and features untouched, so the result can be paired with other biome-altering mods or kept close to vanilla. Worlds generated with it are noticeably larger in vertical range, running from -128 to 512.
Oceans become effectively infinite bodies of water with landmasses of varying size, and temperature zones form vertical bands instead of scattered blobs. Terrain erosion is laid out differently, which produces unusual landshapes. Rivers meander and carve deep valleys through mountains, and in rare cases they cut straight through terrain. Steep hills expose stone in every biome, and moderately steep slopes blend stone into the normal surface.
Larion is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 17 release versions, 1.19 – 1.21.4, under the Apache License 2.0. The code is open source and public links exist for the source and the issue tracker. Larion: Disc World requires it.
Key features
Extended world height
The build height now runs from -128 to 512, giving generated terrain more vertical room.
Infinite oceans
Oceans span wide areas with landmasses of differing size rising out of the water.
Vertical temperature bands
Temperature zones are arranged in horizontal bands across the map rather than as random patches.
Rivers that carve valleys
Rivers wind for long distances and cut deep valleys into mountain areas, with occasional straight tunnels through terrain.
Exposed stone on steep slopes
Steep hills show bare stone in every biome, while gentler slopes transition gradually between stone and grass.

What the author says
Larion is a terrain generation mod that overhauls the style and layout of world generation in a modern-vanilla-like "epic fantasy" style favoring otherworldly, dreamlike vistas. Larion alters the shape of the terrain, cave generation and the layout of biomes, but makes no changes to the actual biomes or their…
