Lapidarist

by PareidoliaG

Lapidarist adds stone-cutting and chiseling recipes that turn resource blocks such as gold, diamond and netherite into bricks, cut blocks, tiles and pillars.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverMIT License1.19.4 – 1.21.1

What it does

Lapidarist gives the resource blocks of the game new uses. Blocks such as coal, redstone, lapis lazuli, iron, gold, diamond, emerald and netherite can be cut, chiseled or shaped into bricks, tiles and pillars, which turns blocks that are otherwise hard to use in building into decorative material. Most of the new blocks are made at a Stonecutter, so the recipes stay separate from crafting-table output, which is much lower for the same materials.

The mod is a small addition, and the author states it is meant to make resource blocks useful for building. Recipes for the new blocks sit alongside the vanilla stone block recipes, so a world that already has its resources gains a decorative route without changing how those resources are obtained. Lapidarist runs on both client and server, so a server and every player need the mod for the blocks to appear.

Installation works on Forge and NeoForge. Files exist for 1.19.4, 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, with the latest Forge file at 3.3 for 1.20.1 and the latest NeoForge file at 4.0 for 1.21.1. The mod is released under the MIT License and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Resource brick sets

Gold, iron, diamond, emerald, netherite, coal, redstone and lapis lazuli each gain bricks, cut blocks, tiles and pillars.

  2. Chiseled variants

Chiseled versions of the resource blocks give a patterned finish for walls and floors.

  3. Stonecutter recipes

Most of the new blocks are produced at a Stonecutter, giving a separate route from the crafting table.

  4. Lapis lazuli pillar

A lapis lazuli pillar is included, so the lapis set is complete beside the other materials.
