Knight Lib
by Xylonity
Knight Lib is a multiloader utility library that supplies shared systems other mods would otherwise write from scratch, including networking, configuration and animation.
What it does
Knight Lib provides common code for mods on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge. Its networking helpers let a mod define its own server-to-client and client-to-server packet channels with a simple send and receive API. An event bus abstracts loader-specific calls so mod code can be written once in a shared package. Its Auto Config system reads TOML files, generates an in-game settings screen, supports hot reloading, and offers compatibility with the configuration screens available on Fabric.
Other systems cover entities and effects. Automaton AI offers a finite state machine for complex entity behavior, and OBB hitboxes attach oriented bounding boxes to model bones. The animation and rendering engine extends the vanilla pipeline with easings, Molang and the Bedrock geo format. Several components are disabled by default, and a mod that wants them must enable them in its own implementation.
Required by Companions! and Clockwork, Knight Lib is published for seven release versions, 1.19 – 1.21.1, and runs on client and server. The code is under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, so the project is open source.
Key features
Per-mod packet channels
Each mod can open its own server-to-client and client-to-server packet channels through a simple send and receive API.
Auto-generated config screens
TOML config files produce an in-game settings screen automatically and reload when edited while the game runs.
Entity state machines
Automaton AI provides a finite state machine for complex entity behavior, with states and transitions defined per entity.
Bone-linked hitboxes
Oriented bounding boxes follow individual model bones, so hitboxes move with animated parts of an entity.
Persistent entity data
Attachments store persistent data on any entity and sync it to clients automatically, and Entity Data gives quick access to that data.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.

Use cases
Mod developers
Developers reuse networking, configuration and event code instead of rebuilding it for each loader.
Boss encounters
Custom boss bars, music providers and camera shake can be combined to script a boss fight.
Who it’s for: Mod developers who build on Fabric, Forge or NeoForge, and players who install a mod that depends on Knight Lib.
How it compares
Cutscene API is also open source under the MIT License and runs on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt for 1.20 – 1.21.4, with client and server environment. Common Network offers similar packet helpers under the MIT License for 1.16.5 – 26.3 on the same four loaders. Solo Bridges is a Forge and NeoForge option, not open source, for 1.16.5 – 1.21.4.

What the author says
KnightLib is a multiloader utility library designed to eliminate code duplication and provide clean implementations of systems that every mod tends to reinvent from scratch. ● This library is fully compatible with Forge, NeoForge (1.21.1+), and Fabric, built on Jared's multiloader template.
