InvSearch lets a player search every storage chest near them from a single search box, using an index built on the client.

What it does

The mod indexes the storage chests around the player on the client and stores that index locally, so a search in the game returns items with their counts and locations. An embedded web dashboard, hosted by the mod itself, offers the same view in a browser without a separate web app. Client-side only means only the player's game needs the mod, and servers or other players do not have to install anything, whether the world is singleplayer or on a multiplayer server.

Once the index exists, results can be sorted alphabetically or by amount. Items with different enchantments or name components are kept apart, so a named or enchanted variant is not mixed with a plain one. The in-game storage GUI remembers the last search and selected item when it is reopened. Fabric API is required, and files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt for 26.3, with builds covering 1.19.2 – 26.3 across 10 release versions. The mod is released under All rights reserved and is not open source.

  1. Local chest index

    Storage chests near the player are indexed on the client, so large bases can be searched without visiting each container.

  2. Exact and broad search

    Typing in the search box matches broadly, while clicking a stored item narrows the view to chests holding that exact item.

  3. Location list and locator

    Selecting an item opens a list of chests with their distance and amount, and the Locate action focuses the chosen chest, with matching chests shown on the locator bar.

  4. Stored Items range setting

    A settings slider limits which chests count as nearby, so the view can cover only the storage close to the player.

  5. Embedded web dashboard

    Grouped stored items, their counts, sorting options and the running total of indexed chests all appear on a dashboard that the mod serves itself.
