Invisible Item Frames (Craftable)

by Suby

Invisible Item Frames, a Fabric mod, adds a craftable invisible version of the item frame so the displayed item stays visible while the frame itself disappears.

FabricClient and serverMIT License1.21.11

What it does

The mod adds a craftable Invisible Item Frame next to the normal item frame recipe, which stays available. A frame placed as the invisible variant hides its frame model while the item it holds remains visible, and it is placed and used the same way as a regular item frame.

Crafting the invisible frame takes one normal item frame in the center, surrounded by four glass blocks on its four sides. The mod does not replace the vanilla item frame, so both options exist side by side. It was made for players who sometimes want a frame shown and sometimes want only the item visible.

Installation needs Fabric API. Invisible Item Frames runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files are published for Fabric only, with version 1.0.0 for 1.21.11 released on 2026-04-08 under the MIT License. The project is not open source. The author notes that support for older versions may be added unless the author is actively playing that version.

Key features

  1. Craftable invisible frame

A separate invisible item frame can be crafted, so the vanilla recipe and item stay untouched.

  2. Hidden frame model

Placed invisible frames show no frame texture, while the displayed item remains visible on the wall.

  3. Normal placement

Invisible frames are placed and used like regular item frames, so no new steps are needed to display items.

  4. Glass-based recipe

The craft combines one item frame with four glass blocks around it, using items most players already have.

What the author says

This is a small mod I made because I wanted both options normal visible Item Frames and invisible ones. Sometimes you want the frame to show, and sometimes you just want the item itself visible without the frame getting in the way. So instead of replacing the normal Item Frame, this mod adds a separate craftable…
