Inventory Pets

by purplicious_cow

Inventory Pets adds living creatures that live in the player's hotbar and grant effects, drops, buffs and weapons while they are fed and kept there.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.7.10 – 1.21.1

What it does

Each pet becomes active only while it sits in the hotbar. Removing it from the hotbar, or leaving it unfed, switches its effects off. Pets are acquired by crafting them from vanilla materials, by finding them in dungeons across the Overworld, Nether and End, through a rare wand called the Petrifier, or by combining three or four pets of one category in a crafting table to produce a Meta Pet. Pet food can be kept in a single bag stored anywhere in the vanilla inventory, and pets take food from it on their own.

The mod requires Curios API, and the Curios API dependency must be installed alongside it. Inventory Pets runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files are published for Forge and NeoForge across 7 release versions, 1.7.10 – 1.21.1, and the code is under All rights reserved, so it is not open source.

Key features

  1. Feeding and hotbar activation

Pets stay active only while they are in the hotbar and kept fed, so their effects depend on how they are cared for.

  2. Dungeon discoveries

Six dungeon types across the Overworld, Nether and End hold pets, guarded by enhanced monsters or special traps, with a small chance of legendary drops.

  3. Meta Pet crafting

Combining three or four pets from the same category in a crafting table produces a Meta Pet from that category, with higher odds of rarer results.

  4. Pet naming

Holding a pet and pressing N opens a naming prompt, so each pet can carry a name of its own.
