Image Overlay
by BoreasFury
Image Overlay lets players display pictures and animated GIFs directly on the screen while playing, with placement, resizing and transparency controls.
What it does
Image Overlay renders still images and GIFs on top of the game view. Images can be loaded from a URL, and a URL entry needs an image address followed by a position and size, such as a coordinate pair and a width and height in pixels. Pictures can be dragged around the screen and resized, and the render adapts to the window resolution.
The mod runs on the client only, so a server does not need it and players join without installing it. It is published for Fabric alone, with builds covering 1.20.1 – 26.3 and the latest file, 26.3-1.1.3, for 26.3. The code is not open source; it is released under All rights reserved. Its issue tracker is public.

Use cases
Stream and recording overlays
A player can place a logo or animated graphic over the game view while recording or streaming.
Reference images while building
Pictures such as a plan or pixel-art reference can sit beside the build, then be hidden or made transparent.
Who it’s for: Players who want pictures or GIFs on their screen during play, and players who record or stream and want a fixed graphic in the corner of the view.
How it compares
Dissy Block Overlay is also client-side only and runs on Fabric, but it is built for 1.21.11 – 26.2 and is not open source. GIF Inventory is client-side only on Fabric as well, released under the MIT License, and covers 1.16.5 – 26.2, with a focus on GIFs in the inventory screen instead of free placement across the window.
