Ignoring

by stellium

Ignoring lets a player hide chat messages, renders and other content from specific players on the Fabric client.

FabricClient-side onlyGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.20.2 – 1.21.11

What it does

A player picks other players to ignore, and the client then drops their chat lines and stops drawing their appearance. Blocked players can also be kept out of the server ping list, so their names are hidden there as well. The mod works on a single-player or multiplayer client alone, and only the client needs it, so servers run without any installation.

Ignoring requires Cloth Config API and Fabric API, and it is published for Fabric only. Files cover the release versions 1.20.2 – 1.21.11, with 2.1 for 1.21.11 as the latest build. The code is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and the source code and issue tracker are public.

The mod is a social tool for players who want quieter chat or a calmer multiplayer lobby without leaving a server. Because the block list is kept per player, a blocked player stays hidden on every server the client joins.

Key features

  1. Chat filtering

Messages from blocked players are removed from the chat window, so their lines never reach the player.

  2. Hidden appearance

Blocked players are not rendered on screen, which keeps them out of view in busy areas.

  3. Server ping list hiding

Blocked players are removed from the names shown in the server ping list, before a player joins.

  4. Per-player blocking

Individual players are chosen one by one, so no other players are affected by the block.

HardcoreFreeCommands is server-side only, runs on Fabric for 1.21 – 1.21.11 and is released under the MIT License, so it changes server commands rather than the client view. PlayerHider is client-side only, published for Fabric 1.20 – 1.20.4, and is released under All rights reserved, so it is not open source.
