Hunger's Delight
Hunger's Delight changes how hunger drains, recovers and interacts with sleep and movement, and it is built as a Fabric mod for 1.20.1.
What it does
Hunger's Delight rebalances the hunger system for players who also use food mods such as Farmer's Delight. Passive hunger loss can be turned on or off in the configuration file, and the mod adds small exhaustion from walking and sneaking, similar to the cost of sprinting. Holding up a shield slowly drains energy and therefore hunger over time. Sleeping has a cost too: players wake up hungry, and a well-rested character with a full belly can gain a short regeneration effect. Eating raw food brings a brief hunger effect.
The mod is meant for a play style where food matters more than it does in vanilla, and it can be used in Peaceful mode without losing the benefit of eating. Peaceful players who prefer the regular Peaceful rules can disable the changes in the configuration file. Hunger's Delight overrides the hunger mechanics that ActionHunger supplants, so the two cannot run together, and the mod is not compatible with any mod that touches HungerManager. When that conflict applies, the hunger changes cannot be disabled through the Hunger's Delight config file.
Installation requires Fabric API on Fabric 1.20.1. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. The code is open source under the MIT License, and public links to the source code and issue tracker are available.
Key features
Passive hunger loss
Hunger decreases slowly over time, and the rate can be configured or switched off completely.
Movement exhaustion
Walking and sneaking add a small amount of exhaustion, in the same way that sprinting does.
Shield energy cost
Holding up a shield drains energy slowly, so hunger lasts for a shorter time during long blocking.
Sleep and raw food effects
Sleeping with a full belly grants a regeneration-like bonus, while eating raw food causes a brief hunger effect.

How it compares
Fabric Seasons: Delight Refabricated Compat is licensed under the Mozilla Public License 2.0, is open source, and is built for 1.20.1 – 1.21.1 in client and server mode. HealthNFoodTweaker is open source under the MIT License, runs on the server side only and supports 1.20.1 alone. ActionHunger is server-side only and open source under the CC0 1.0 Universal license, but it overrides the hunger mechanics that Hunger's Delight also changes, so the two cannot be combined.

This mod will passively reduce your hunger overtime (configurable) and this passive hunger can be disabled. Walking and sneaking will also create a small amount of exhaustion like how sprinting does. Hiding behind your shield will now drain your energy slowly making you lose hunger the longer you hold it up. Lastly…
