Hud Keys
by AlexTGG
Hud Keys shows the keybinds of the hotbar slots on screen, so players can see which key triggers each slot while playing with Fabric.
What it does
Each hotbar slot gets an outlined label that names its bound key, with common modifiers, mouse buttons and keypad keys written in a compact form. Long key names are shortened so the text fits, and a label briefly flashes green when its slot is selected within one tick, giving feedback on attack and item swaps. Labels also react when a key is held down.
The mod is a client-side utility for Fabric on 1.21.11 – 26.3, released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later and open source. Horizontal and vertical placement, text size and whether keys that are not pressed appear can each be adjusted in the configuration screen. It requires Fabric API and Cloth Config API, and Mod Menu is optional for opening the settings. Because it runs on the client alone, a server does not need to install it.

Use cases
Learning a key layout
Players who bind many slots to keys can read the layout directly on the hotbar while learning it.
Fast-paced combat
Players who switch slots quickly during fights can confirm which key was pressed from the flash and label state.
Who it’s for: Players who use Fabric and want to see hotbar keybinds on screen. Only the client needs the mod, so it suits single-player and multiplayer clients alike.
How it compares
Multibinding is a Fabric client-only mod for 1.21.11 under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only and open source. Toggle Keybinds is a Fabric client-only mod for 1.21.4 – 26.2 under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, also open source. Hud Keys covers 1.21.11 – 26.3 and focuses on the hotbar labels rather than keybind toggling.
