Harry's Armor and Tools
by Supernova483
Harry's Armor and Tools is a Fabric overhaul of the vanilla armor and tool progression, with three new smithing templates and a new alloy material.
What it does
Higher-tier armor and tools are acquired through new smithing templates, in a path similar to how vanilla Netherite is obtained. A new progression path begins with Copper, which has its own unique template, and runs through Iron, Aurium, Diamond and Netherite, five tiers in total. Each step is meant to slow the pace of progression so that a new set feels rewarding to obtain. Upgrading a tool or armor piece needs the smithing template for the next tier plus a material component of that tier.
The templates are found in vanilla structures: Iron upgrade templates appear in village houses and pillager outposts, Aurium templates in buried treasure and desert pyramids, and Diamond templates in woodland mansions and ancient cities. Crafting uses simple recipes, such as a diamond upgrade that takes diamonds and iron ingots, and Aurium is a new alloy of gold and iron that fits in the gap between diamond and copper. The mod requires Fabric API. Installation covers the server and each player's game. Files are published for Fabric only, for 1.21.1, under the MIT License, and the mod is not open source.
Key features
Three smithing templates
Three new smithing templates gate the higher tiers, and each tier has its own template and material.
Aurium alloy
A new alloy material joins gold and iron and carries its own armor set and tools.
Five-tier progression
The path runs from Copper through Iron, Aurium and Diamond to Netherite, so each tier can be reached in turn.
Template loot
Smithing templates appear in vanilla structures at common, uncommon and rare rates, so they are found while exploring.
