Happy Ghast Whistle

A goat horn can be paired with a Happy Ghast, and the horn is given the same name as the ghast. Playing a paired horn calls that ghast from a distance, and a horn used while holding it can also make the ghast fly faster. Crouching while using a horn tells the mod that the player wants to know where the ghast is and does not want it to come. The horn can show a locator bar waypoint and make the ghast glow so it is easier to see.

The Nametag crafting recipe uses the modern vanilla version, and it is used even in older Minecraft versions. Snowballs are also a way to affect the ghast, which the author describes as an easier option. Settings control how far away a horn can be heard and how far away it works as a tempting item. Settings can be changed through Mod Menu or by editing the config file, and changes made in-game take effect without restarting the world, though some settings need a command and a permission level of at least 2.

The mod is published for Fabric only, across 11 release versions, 1.21.6 – 26.3. Installation covers the server and each player's game. It is released under the MIT License but is not open source. Fabric API, Mod Menu and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL) are required. The author notes that version 3.9.6 of YACL was the minimum for 26.3, and that version 3.9.7 is needed for the bug fixes in 26.3, so players should use the YACL version that matches their game version.
