Greews Races
by Greews
Greews Races lets each player pick a race at the start of a world and change it later through a menu, with bonuses and drawbacks attached to the choice.
What it does
Each race changes a player's stats in fixed amounts: damage with a sword, axe, bow, crossbow or pickaxe can rise or fall by 20%, mining speed can rise by 20%, reach can rise by 20%, height can shrink or grow by 20% or 30%, and armor can add 2 points. Some races also carry mechanical traits, such as the Vampire race, which takes damage from sunlight and gains lifesteal, or a race that takes damage in water and rain and eats only raw meat. The mod names Dwarf, Elf, Fairy, Human, Wood Elf, Night Elf, Demon and Vampire among its races, with more planned.
The mod runs on Fabric for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, 1.21.10 and 1.21.11, with 1.2.0+1.21.11 for 1.21.11 as the latest file. It requires Fabric API and TerraBlender, and the environment is client and server, so the server and every player need it. The code is public, but the mod is released under All rights reserved, which means it is not open source.
Two server-side options are part of the mod: a race selection menu that a player can open to change race, and a language menu for the mod's interface in several languages, including Czech, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish and Ukrainian. A race can also show as a prefix before the player's name on the scoreboard.
Key features
Race bonuses and drawbacks
Each race sets fixed percentage changes to damage, mining speed, reach, height and armor, so a choice trades one strength for another.
Mechanical traits
Some races change how the player is affected by the world, such as burning in sunlight, gaining lifesteal, or taking damage from water and rain.
Race selection menu
A menu lets a player choose a race at the start of a world, and it can be opened again to change race later.
Language selection
A separate menu switches the mod's interface language among several supported languages.
Scoreboard prefix
The chosen race can appear as a prefix before the player name on the game scoreboard.

How it compares
Dwarf covers Fabric for 1.21 – 1.21.11 with client and server as its environment and All rights reserved as its license, so it is not open source. Elder Origins is a Fabric build for 1.20.1 only, also client and server and All rights reserved. Origins: Vampire CONTINUED is the one alternative with an open license, under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and it is server required with the client optional, for 1.21 – 1.21.1 on Fabric.
