Green Crystal(绿晶)

by kisaragi_shion

Green Crystal is a Forge and NeoForge management mod, also shipped as a data pack, that clears projectiles and dropped items once they pass the player's rendering distance.

ForgeNeoForgeServer required, client optionalAll rights reserved1.20.1 – 1.21.3

What it does

Projectiles such as arrows and thrown items stop being rendered past a certain distance, and the game removes them after they leave the player's view. Green Crystal targets this gap by clearing projectiles and loose items that drop beyond the player's field. A default G key is bound to the action in both Chinese and English builds, and the mod is meant to work alongside Blue Crystal, a companion data pack by the same author.

The mod is server required and client optional. The server must run it for the effect to apply, while players may leave it out. In multiplayer, the server operator runs a reload command in the console after the other players have entered the world, and turns off the damage-players and mob griefing options again before the mod is restored to its previous state.

Files are published for Forge 1.20.1 and for NeoForge 1.21.1, with a data pack option. Game versions covered are 1.20.1, 1.21, 1.21.1, 1.21.2 and 1.21.3. The mod is released under All rights reserved and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Projectile clearing

Projectiles that have passed the rendering distance are removed, which the author says can improve performance in the game world.

  2. Item clearing

Dropped items outside the player's field of view are cleared, so items left on the ground beyond rendering range do not accumulate.

  3. Mob griefing toggle

Mob griefing can be switched off and on from the mod's controls, changing how mobs affect blocks.

  4. Player damage toggle

Damage to players can be disabled and enabled again, using a keybind or a console command.

More MobGriefing Options is a Client and server mod for Forge and NeoForge that covers 1.17.1 – 26.3 and is not open source, so it changes the griefing rules on both sides. Simple Crystal PVP Disabler is server required with optional client use and covers 1.16 – 26.2, and it targets combat instead of rendering.

Questions

Does Green Crystal need to be installed on the server?

Yes. Only the server has to run it for the projectile and item clearing to apply, while players can join without it.

Which loaders and versions are supported?

Forge has a file for 1.20.1 and NeoForge has a file for 1.21.1. Builds exist for 1.20.1, 1.21, 1.21.1, 1.21.2 and 1.21.3, and the latest release is 3.0.0 from 2025-05-09.

How is the mod used in multiplayer?

The host runs a reload command in the console after the other players enter the world, then turns off the damage-players option if needed. The data pack version has the same requirement.

What the author says

Intro:This datapack is designed to modify the rendering logic of projectiles in the game. When paired with the "Blue Crystal" data package, it will be extra effective. The principle is very simple: the best distance to clear the projectile is obtained by testing the actual maximum rendering distance reached by the…
