Gravity, Gourds, & You

by davigj

Gravity, Gourds, & You makes pumpkins and melons break into slices when dripstone or other falling blocks land on them.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.19.2 – 1.21.1

What it does

Pointed dripstone and other falling blocks split pumpkins and melons into slices on impact, so a dripstone drip can serve as an unusual farming setup. Pumpkins and melons also break when a pushed piston hits them. The mod is a Forge and NeoForge addition for the 1.19.2 – 1.21.1 range, built on Blueprint, and it runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it.

Several options control the output. The number of slices a pumpkin drops, the number of slices a melon drops, and the chance of extra pumpkin slices are each configurable, with defaults set by the author. Large pumpkin slices from Autumnity break into slices as well. The concept credits Freshah, and the source code and issue tracker are public. The mod is open source under the MIT License, and files exist for 1.19.2, 1.20.1 and 1.21.1.

Key features

  1. Gravity-driven gourd splitting

Pointed dripstone and other falling blocks break pumpkins and melons into slices when they land on them.

  2. Piston breaking

A pushed piston that strikes a pumpkin or melon breaks it, so gourds can be processed mechanically.

  3. Configurable slice output

Slice counts for pumpkins and melons, and the chance of extra pumpkin slices, can be adjusted in the config.

  4. Cutting board recipes

Farmer's Delight adds a pumpkin-to-slices cutting board recipe when it is installed.

Questions

Does Gravity, Gourds, & You need Blueprint?

Yes. Blueprint is a required dependency and must be installed alongside the mod on Forge or NeoForge.

Do pumpkin slices from the mod need Farmer's Delight?

Farmer's Delight is optional. Without it, pumpkins still drop slices when falling blocks strike them, but the cutting board recipe is not added.

Which versions does the mod support on NeoForge?

The latest NeoForge file is 3.0.0 for 1.21.1, while Forge builds exist for 1.19.2 and 1.20.1.
