Glassential (Fabric/Quilt)
by Up
Glassential, a Fabric and Quilt mod by Up, adds several glass variants that each change how blocks, light, redstone, players and entities interact with them.
What it does
Glassential adds glass blocks with specific behavior. Luminous Glass emits light the way Glowstone does, and Redstone Glass sends out a strong redstone signal like a Block of Redstone. Ghostly Glass lets non-solid entities pass through, while Ethereal Glass lets sneaking players and entities pass through it. Reverse Ethereal Glass works the other way, letting only solid sneaking players and entities stand on it, and fluids are affected by it as well. Tinted Ethereal Glass and Tinted Reverse Ethereal Glass combine the tinted glass properties with those of their Ethereal counterparts.
The mod is aimed at building projects and at players who want extra glass options without installing a large content mod. Like ordinary glass, the new blocks let light through while emitting or blocking it as their type dictates. Several other mods, Extra Utilities among them, also add a range of glass types, and the author notes that more glass variants are planned for later releases.
Installation requires Fabric API. Glassential is a client and server mod, so the server and every player need it, and it is released under the MIT License as open source. Files cover 1.17 – 1.21, with 6.0.0 as the latest build for 1.21 on both Fabric and Quilt, and snapshot builds are published.
Key features
Light-emitting glass
Luminous Glass gives off light in the same way as Glowstone while still letting light pass through.
Redstone-powered glass
Redstone Glass emits a strong redstone signal, matching the output of a Block of Redstone.
Entity-passable glass
Ghostly Glass lets non-solid entities move through it, and Ethereal Glass lets sneaking players and entities pass.
Selective Reverse Ethereal Glass
Reverse Ethereal Glass stops fluids and lets only solid sneaking players and entities rest on it.

How it compares
Glassential Renewed is a Fabric, Forge and NeoForge mod, open source under the MIT License, with files for 1.20.1 – 26.3, so it covers loaders that Glassential does not. Tinted Beacons is a Fabric mod under the MIT License, open source, for 1.18.1 – 1.19.4, and it is client-side only, so servers do not need it, unlike Glassential, which both sides must run.

What the author says
Several mods, such as Extra Utilities, add a bunch of cool glasses to your game. Like glass that you can see through but blocks light or glass that emits light. Have you ever wanted to get that cool stuff, but without all the overhead of putting a major content mod in your modpack? Well look no further than…
