GeOre
by ShyNieke
GeOre places geode-style structures for ores, and their budding blocks grow ore crystals that players can harvest.
What it does
The mod takes its basis from the vanilla amethyst geode feature and applies the same idea to other valuable ores. A generated geode holds a cluster of decorative blocks alongside budding versions of its ore, and those budding blocks slowly grow crystals of that ore. Once a crystal is fully grown, it can be harvested for the material.
The design is meant to support ore farms. A player who wants to farm a given ore has to explore the world to find the matching geode first. Budding ore blocks drop nothing when mined, even with Silk Touch, and pistons cannot move them, so a budding block stays where it was found and must be used on site.
GeOre runs on Forge and NeoForge, and it needs the client and the server alike. The mod is open source under the MIT License and is published for 1.17.1 – 26.1.2, with the latest Forge file being 2.5.0 for 1.20.1 and the latest NeoForge file 8.1.0 for 26.1.2. GeOre Nouveau requires it.
Key features
Ore geodes
Geodes that hold ore are generated in the world, applying the vanilla geode shape to other valuable materials.
Budding ore blocks
Budding versions of each ore grow crystals over time, which can be harvested once fully grown.
Non-dropping budding blocks
Budding ore blocks yield nothing when mined, including with Silk Touch, so the source stays in place.
Immovable budding blocks
Pistons cannot move budding ore blocks, which fixes each farm to the location where its geode was found.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Players who want ore sources tied to exploration rather than mining, and server owners who want geode-based resource gathering on a shared world.
How it compares
No More Amethyst Geodes is server-side only, applies to Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt for 1.19 – 1.21.1, and is under the MIT License without being open source. RemoveGeodo is open source under the MIT License, runs on Forge and NeoForge for 1.20.1 – 1.21.11, and needs both the client and the server, which matches GeOre. Crystal Depths – New Geode Types covers Fabric and NeoForge for 1.21.8 – 26.3 and is not open source. More Geodes Reforged is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, covers Forge and NeoForge for 1.19.2 – 1.20.1, and also runs on both sides.

What the author says
This mod takes heavy inspiration of the vanilla amethyst geode feature and applies it to other valuables to. The idea is that if you want to make ore farms you will need to go out and explore the world and try to find the geode of the ore you are looking for, these geodes work like vanilla geodes as to where it…
