Game Tweaks

by VertigoGX

Game Tweaks lets a Fabric server or single-player world switch off several vanilla behaviors, including lightning fires, Nether portal piglins and enderman block pickup.

FabricClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.21.4 – 26.2

What it does

Each change is a separate toggle. Lightning strikes no longer start fires where they hit, although mobs struck by lightning still catch fire. Nether-portal blocks stop occasionally spawning zombified piglins, and endermen can no longer pick up blocks. The changes adjust game mechanics, and game rules are not replaced, so the options stay optional.

The mod is a Fabric build for 26.2, with files for 1.21.4 – 26.2 across 12 release versions. The server and every player need the mod installed. It is released under the MIT License and is open source, with a public source code repository and issue tracker. Mod Menu is an optional dependency that gives access to the settings screen. The latest file, 1.2.0 for 26.2, was published on 2026-06-16, and the project first appeared on 2025-04-08.

Key features

  1. Lightning without fire

Lightning strikes stop starting fires where they land, while mobs hit by lightning still catch fire.

  2. Nether portal piglins

Nether-portal blocks no longer occasionally spawn zombified piglins.

  3. Enderman block pickup

Endermen are unable to pick up blocks, so terrain they wander across stays where it was.

  4. Client-side menus and effects

Cleaner menus and unobtrusive effects run on the client, with no server-side setup required.

Use cases

Survival worlds

Players who want fewer fires from storms and fewer piglins near portals can disable those mechanics individually.

Multiplayer servers

Server owners can add small convenience changes and professional villager behavior while keeping the game mostly vanilla.

Who it’s for: Server owners who want tighter control over vanilla mechanics and players who want to switch off particular mob behaviors. The author notes that the mod has only been tested in single-player on a limited set of worlds.

How it compares

Full comparison

No Endermen is server-side only, published for 1.21.11 under All rights reserved, and is not open source. No grief endermen is also server-side only, but it targets 1.21.1 under the MIT License and is not open source. Prevent Enderman Block Pickup is server-side only, open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, and covers 1.21.1 – 26.2, the widest range of the three. Game Tweaks is the only one here that runs on client and server together.
