Flashcards

by Ninjaking312

Flashcards is a Fabric client mod for studying, where a player builds question decks and is rewarded or punished for each answer.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.21 – 26.3

What it does

Players add, edit and delete questions, each with answer text and an optional image file, and group them into categories. A green tick beside a category name switches its questions on or off, so a study session can draw from only the topics chosen.

Rewards and punishments follow each answer: commands set what happens when a question is answered correctly or wrongly. Defaults are already in place, including random good and bad effects, mobs and loot. A loot table datapack can supply randomised loot through the loot command, so the outcome of a correct answer can be fully customised.

The mod is client-side only, so only the player's client needs it. It requires Fabric API and is released under the MIT License as open source, with files for 1.21 – 26.3. The latest Fabric build, 2.1.0-26.3, is for 26.3 and dates from 2026-09-18.

Key features

  1. Question decks by category

Questions are separated into categories for organisation, and each category can be enabled or disabled from its own tick.

  2. Command-set rewards

Effects, mobs and items given for correct or wrong answers are set through commands, with defaults already provided.

  3. Image-based questions

A question can show a picture from a filename, from a simple sketch to a more detailed image.

  4. Datapack loot tables

A loot table datapack can be used with the loot command to give randomised items when a question is answered correctly.

Use cases

Self-study while playing

A player can load a question set on the topic being learned and answer questions during regular play.

Classroom-style quizzes on a server

Because the environment is client-side only, each player runs the mod locally, so a group can share the same question set.

Who it’s for: Players who want to study a subject through the game, and players who want a reward system tied to answering questions correctly.

How it compares

Full comparison

AnkiCraft is a Fabric client mod for 26.1.2, open source under the MIT License, and also runs client-side only, so both can run without a server. Keybind Presets is a Fabric client mod for 1.19.2 – 1.21.6, open source under the MIT License, and it works on the client alone. Flashcards keeps its questions and rewards in its own configuration rather than changing keybindings.
