Flashback Recording Indicator
Flashback Recording Indicator adds a small HUD badge that shows when Flashback is recording, paused, or idle, so a player can tell the capture state at a glance.
What it does
Flashback does not show a recording indicator of its own, so a player can lose track of whether a capture is still running or has been paused. The result is often footage with gaps, or a recording left running for hours. This mod draws a compact status badge in the top-left corner of the screen: a red dot with REC while Flashback is recording, and an amber dot with PAUSED while it is paused. When no recording is active, nothing is shown.
The overlay is rendered as a HUD element after the boss bar layer and uses a semi-transparent background so the text stays readable against a bright or busy scene. It needs no configuration: once installed, it starts working with Flashback. The mod is client-side only, so a server does not need it, and players join servers without installing anything for it. It requires Flashback, and it is released under the MIT License, but it is not open source.
Key features
Recording badge
A red dot and the word REC appear in the top-left corner while Flashback is actively recording.
Paused badge
An amber dot and the word PAUSED show while a Flashback recording is paused, so the state is visible without opening a menu.
Hidden when idle
No badge is drawn when Flashback is not recording or paused, keeping the screen clear otherwise.
Readable overlay
A semi-transparent background keeps the badge legible against bright or changing scenes.

Use cases
Long captures
Players recording a long session can check the badge to confirm that capture has not been paused by accident and left off.
Pausing between takes
A player who pauses during a shoot can see at a glance whether the recorder is still paused or has resumed.
Who it’s for: Players who record gameplay with Flashback on Fabric and want the capture state shown on screen. Servers do not need to install it.
How it compares
FlashbackClipper is a Fabric mod for 1.21.11 – 26.2, under All rights reserved and not open source, so it is a separate tool rather than a status badge. Flashback Recording To World is an MIT-licensed, open source Fabric mod for 1.21.10 – 1.21.11 and covers a different part of the recording workflow. PowerHUD is open source under the MIT License and runs on Fabric for 1.21.4 – 26.3, covering a wider set of HUD elements than this single indicator.
