Figura Unchained lets players join servers that run their own Figura Unchained backend, separate from the official Figura service. Once connected, a player manages the session with in-game chat commands: figura-unchained register creates an account on the current backend, and figura-unchained login signs in to an existing one. The addon works with Figura addon offline-mode servers, and the original Figura mod must be installed alongside it.

The addon is a third-party modification, not an official Figura product, and the creator assumes no liability for actions, data retention or security on third-party backends. Players choose which servers to trust. The addon collects no personal telemetry, and the only data transmitted is the connection IP address that a standard web server receives, visible only to the owner of the backend it connects to. Backend source code is on GitHub for anyone who wants to host their own backend for friends or a private SMP. Issues about the custom backend should not be sent to the official Figura developers.

Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 1.20.1, 1.21, 1.21.1, 1.21.4 and 1.21.10. The latest builds, 1.9.2+1.21.4+0.1.6 for Fabric and NeoForge and 1.9.2+1.20.1+0.1.6 for Forge, were released in October 2026. The code is under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0 and is not open source.
