FentLib is a shared code library for Forge 1.7.10, with small tweaks and fixes that other mods in the catalog build on.

What it does

FentLib is a utility library: it provides shared code and a set of tweaks and fixes rather than gameplay content of its own. FentLib requires UniMixins. Either side can run it, and neither a client nor a server needs it. Its files target Forge for 1.7.10 only, with 1.0.0 for 1.7.10 as the latest Forge file.

Among its changes, the mod removes the EnderCore HodgePodge info button's mod list screen, modifies the S00PacketServerInfo packet through an API, and sets a default server icon path through the serverIconDirectory option. On the client it can set a custom maximum sound attenuation distance without raising volume, and a dev launch can override the session access token with -Dfentlib.accessTokenOverride=. The fish junk and treasure lists are JSON files whose entries can use weights, count and meta ranges, biome whitelists or inverted blacklists, numeric enchantment IDs, and vanilla-style random enchanting.

The mod is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only and is open source, with public source code and an issue tracker. It was first published on 2026-03-10 and last updated on 2026-09-06. Five other catalog mods require it, including An Extra Touch, Vintage Damage Indicators, Minemoticon, Wawel Auth and Vintage Resourcify.

Key features

  1. Shared library code

A common code base that other Forge 1.7.10 mods can depend on instead of carrying their own copies.

  2. Packet and sound tweaks

The S00PacketServerInfo packet can be modified through the API, and sound attenuation distance can be raised without changing volume.

  3. Fish junk and treasure lists

Top-level JSON lists for fish junk and treasure, with weights, count and meta ranges, and biome selection.

  4. Enchanting entries

Entries can list explicit numeric enchantment IDs or follow vanilla-style random enchanting rules.

Questions

Does FentLib need another mod to run?

Yes. UniMixins is a required dependency, so it must be installed next to FentLib on Forge 1.7.10.

Does a server need FentLib installed?

No. Either side can run it, and neither a client nor a server needs it, so installing it on one side is enough.

Which mods use FentLib?

Five catalog mods require it: An Extra Touch, Vintage Damage Indicators, Minemoticon, Wawel Auth and Vintage Resourcify.
