Hopper Speed Tweaks

by Prunty

Hopper Speed Tweaks sets how fast hoppers move items, using a single gamerule named hopperSpeed on servers running Fabric.

FabricServer-side onlyMIT License1.20 – 1.21.10

What it does

A gamerule called hopperSpeed sets the transfer speed of every hopper in the world. Higher settings move items faster and lower settings move them more slowly, with the vanilla rate as the starting point. Server owners can use it to tune farms, storage systems and item-heavy automation without changing other mechanics.

The mod is server-side only, so players join without installing anything and only the server runs it. It needs Fabric Loader and Fabric API, and the files cover 1.20 – 1.21.10 across 13 release versions, with mc1.21.9-1.21.10-1.0.0 as the latest Fabric file for 1.21.10. It is released under the MIT License and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Hopper speed gamerule

Transfer speed is set with the hopperSpeed gamerule, so no config file or command mod is needed.

  2. Vanilla baseline

The default setting leaves hoppers at vanilla speed, and the value can be changed at any time.

  3. Faster and slower values

Higher values speed up item movement and lower values slow it down, which helps balance an economy or a farm.

Use cases

Farm balancing

Server owners can slow hoppers down on large automated farms that otherwise produce items faster than the economy can absorb.

Storage systems

Faster hoppers can shorten the time items take to reach chests in long storage lines.

Who it’s for: The mod suits server owners who want to fine-tune item movement on a multiplayer server without replacing vanilla mechanics. It is aimed at automation-heavy servers, farms and economies where hopper speed affects the balance more than most players expect.

What the author says

Hopper speed affects farms, storage systems, and server balance more than most people realize. This mod lets you change hopper transfer speed using a simple gamerule, so you can speed up item movement, slow down automation, or fine-tune vanilla mechanics to fit your server.
