Faster Minecarts
by Prunty
Faster Minecarts raises the minecart speed cap above vanilla on Fabric, and adds smarter handling that reduces derailments on fast rail lines.
What it does
Vanilla minecarts are too slow for long rail journeys. The mod lifts the speed limit so that high-speed rail travel becomes practical instead of chaotic, and the speed can be changed with a simple gamerule. Rail systems built for transit feel fast without the usual trade-off of frequent derailments.
The smarter handling is aimed at survival transit lines and server rail networks, where faster carts make long trips across a world quicker and make rail infrastructure worth building again. Because it works on the server, players join without installing anything.
The mod is server-side only and released under the MIT License as open source. Its files target 1.20.1 – 26.1.2, and the latest Fabric build, mc26.1.x-1.3.0, is for 26.1.2.
Key features
Higher speed cap
The maximum minecart speed is raised above the vanilla limit, so long rail lines cover distance much faster.
Adjustable speed
A gamerule sets the cart speed, letting a server owner tune how fast carts travel without editing files.
Reduced derailments
Smarter cart handling lowers the chance of derailing at higher speeds, keeping fast routes reliable.
Rail network travel
Faster carts make world travel and long-distance transit routes on survival and server rail networks practical.

Use cases

A survival base connected by long rail lines can use faster carts to reach distant mines and farms sooner.
Server rail networks
Server owners can run shared transit lines where faster travel keeps the network useful for every player.
Who it’s for: Players who build long rail routes in survival worlds, and server owners who run shared rail networks and want carts to be practical for travel.
