The Copper Rail
by iluha168
The Copper Rail adds a directional rail for Fabric that is powered by a nearby redstone block, and its push direction follows how the player placed it.
What it does
The copper rail behaves as a directional rail. A minecart pushed over it moves without a block on one side. When a redstone block is nearby, the rail starts moving minecarts in the same way vanilla powered rails do. Its push direction is set by the position the player placed it in, so the orientation is chosen at build time.
Copper rails are powered by redstone like other powered rails, but they do not share power with golden rails and do not pass it along to them. Activator rails do not power golden rails either, so the copper rail works as a separate track type. Bonus rails of this kind generate in mineshaft loot chests, as vanilla rails do.
Servers that run it need every player to install it too. The latest Fabric file is 0.9.10 for 26.2, published 2026-03-29. The code is released under the MIT License and is open source.
Key features
Directional copper rail
Minecarts moved over the rail follow the direction set when the rail was placed.
Redstone-powered movement
A nearby redstone block starts the rail, matching the behavior of vanilla powered rails.
Separate from golden rails
Copper rails do not share redstone power with golden rails, so the two track types stay independent.
Mineshaft loot
Copper rails generate as bonus rails in mineshaft loot chests.
